Deacons

For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a good standing and great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.
— 1 Timothy 3:13

In the Bible, the New Testament identifies two primary servant-leadership roles within the local church: elders and deacons. Elders are entrusted with the spiritual oversight and governance of the church, while deacons serve by meeting tangible needs and supporting the ministry of the church through acts of service and mercy.

At The Bridge Church, deacons are biblically qualified servant leaders who are called by God, affirmed by the Church, and serve under the authority, direction, and oversight of the Elder Body. Deacons do not exercise governing authority. Rather, they carry out ministry responsibilities delegated by the elders in support of the Church’s mission and the spiritual health of the congregation.

The Elder Body invites members of The Bridge Church to submit names of men or women who meet the biblical qualifications for a deacon as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:8–13 and who are already faithfully serving the church.
